Liverpool’s FACT (Foundation for Art & Creative Technology) has appointed Jo Wright as its new executive director. Previously head of creative industries for the Welsh Government, Wright’s achievements include securing Pinewood Studio Group’s first UK studio outside London and establishing a £30m commercial TV and film investment fund.

He also launched GloWorks – a 40,000ft2 creative hub in the heart of Cardiff Bay. Prior to his time in Wales, Wright was sector development manager at the North West Regional Development Agency.

Wright commented: “FACT already has a reputation as one of the UK’s leading media arts centres – I am keen to build on that, making the FACT brand synonymous not just with artistic excellence but with creative innovation and enterprise, and as a driver for economic and commercial growth in the local arts and creative industry sectors.”

FACT’s director, Mike Stubbs, added: “We always say that art is innovation, and that artists and designers are the rocket fuel of that; with Jo’s business knowledge we are well equipped to create an incubator of original art and ideas, whilst developing opportunities with the creative digital industries.”
