“Artists provide value in the work that they create, and they must be compensated for that work. They deserve to be paid as professionals, like anyone else. It’s not just about ensuring they can afford to pay for their materials – it’s about compensating them for their time and labour. It’s a matter of fairness. In Canada, this principle has been in place since CARFAC developed an artist fee policy in 1968. We applaud efforts by a-n/AIR to bring artist fees back into the UK.”
