Exhibition Payment Guidance
a-n’s Exhibition Payment Guide is the culmination of extensive consultation and testing across the sector. It recommends four core principles for artists and organisations to follow in their working arrangements and a framework to provide clarity around payment. It is a significant milestone in the journey to fair pay for artists.
“The new Exhibition Payment Guide will mean substantial change for artists when it is embedded across the entire sector as best practice. a-n and Artists Council will work with our 20,000 members to support this, and we’ll establish a new Paying Artists Working Group to work closely with national sector experts to extend and deepen our guidance over the course of the next five years.” Joseph Young, Secretary of a-n’s Artists Council.
This specially commissioned original text and design by artist Dan Thompson, responds to the unique nature and role of artist-led practice and how the Exhibition Payment Guide’s principles can be used in this context.
